Third Person's POV
Aakriti was lying on the bed and sleeping restlessly. She was twisting and shaking in her sleep.
"Dhruv" Aakriti screamed at the top of her lungs and snapped her eyes open. Her entire face was covered in cold sweat. She had tears rolling down her cheeks. She looked around the room with a confused look. She rubbed her eyes and looked around and repeated the action again and again. She was shivering and she placed her hand on her chest and tried to calm her pounding heart. She tried to get up from the bed but her legs couldn't hold her weight. She stumbled back and landed on the bed again.
"Aaku it was a nightmare. Calm down. Nobody died. Everyone is alive. Dhruv is alright." She murmured in a low, barely audible voice. Her words did not affect her. Instead, she started panicking more. She looked pale and her body was trembling. She leaned towards the side table and grabbed the glass of water with her shaking hands. She tried to bring the glass towards her lips but her hands didn't have any strength. The glass dropped on the carpet and shattered into pieces. She got scared by the loud sound. She panicked and tried to call someone but it took time cause her hands were moving involuntarily. She finally called and the other person immediately picked up her call.
"Aakriti" Dhruv said in a soft tone from the other side. Aakriti breathed a sigh of relief. A faint smile appeared on her tear-stained face.
"Aakriti. Are you there?" Dhruv asked and Aakriti came back to consciousness.
"Yes. Are you ok? How are your wounds now? Did you show your wounds to the doctor? Aakriti tried to sound normal but her voice was cracking in between.
"Why does your voice sound like that? Is everything alright?" Dhruv asked with concern.
"I just have a sore throat. Tell me. Did you show your wounds to a doctor?" Aakriti asked.
"My wounds are not in pain anymore so there is no need to show it to a doctor."
"Can't you do a simple thing that is asked of you? Didn't I tell you to show your wounds to a doctor? Was it difficult to get it treated?" She said in a loud tone. If Dhruv was here he would have been on cloud nine after seeing the concern on Aakriti's face and also panicked seeing her in this state.
"Ok. Ok. Don't be angry I will do what you said. I will get my wounds checked by the doctor."
"Good. Take care." Aakriti said and cut the call. She looked relieved then she placed the cell phone on her lap. Her breathing was still uneven. She got up and mindlessly. The glass pieces pierced in her foot but she didn't feel any pain. She dragged herself towards the bathroom leaving a blood-stained footprint along the path. With each step, the glass pieces pierced deeper and deeper. She stood in front of the basin and looked at her reflection blankly. She bent slightly and started splashing her face with water violently. She seems to have no desire to stop.
"Your miserable phase is going to start now. No more sleep. No more peace." Aakriti said to her reflection in the mirror. She felt like she had no strength left in her body so she sat on the floor. She curled up her knees and hugged herself. A few minutes passed and all she did was stare at the door blankly. The only sound that could be heard at this moment was the running water. She suddenly started crying and her breathing became uneven. Fear and pain were visible in her eyes. She was shivering and all of a sudden she screamed in agony.
"Aahhh...."
"Why is this happening to me again? It took me so much time to get rid of this nightmare. I don't want to go through the treatment all over again. It is all because of you Dhruv. Dhruv I hate you. I hate you. I hate you." She yelled desperately as if seeking answers. She looked hopeless at that moment. Her belief that she attained peace after long restlessness was shattered now. She composed herself and tried to get up. She flinched as her foot touched the ground. She lost her balance and fell back on her butt making her shriek as the glass piece penetrated deeper in her flesh.
"Ouch." She said with a sob as she removed the piece quickly. Blood started oozing out of the wound.
She looked completely exhausted and her vision was getting blurred. She had no strength and then she fainted. She simply lay on the floor lifelessly.
Aakriti's assistant was worried and came to her hotel to check on her as Aakriti was not in the office despite having an important meeting. She tried to call her but it was unreachable which was contrary to her nature.
She entered Aakriti's room using an extra key and found it to be empty. She heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom and felt relief. She moved towards the washroom and was shocked after seeing the blood-stained footprint on the floor. Her body shivered because of all the unpleasant thoughts that entered her mind.
She stood in the front of the bathroom and the door was wide open. She saw Aakriti unconsciously lying on the floor. She rushed towards her panicking.
"Ma'am." She called her out and patted her cheeks to bring her back to consciousness. She sprinkled some water droplets on her face. She repeated her actions a few times but to no avail.
She slowly tried to pick her up and make her lie on the bed. The thought of asking someone for help came to mind but she dropped the idea after recollecting the fact that her boss hates human touch.
"Maam will bury me alive if she gets to know someone touched her when she was unconscious." Maya shuddered thinking about Aakriti's fierce face.
She dragged Aakriti to the bed with great difficulty. This action made her bleeding more severe. She placed Aakriti on the bed like throwing a sack of grain. She covered her body with a blanket cause her clothes were almost see-through. She called the hotel staff and told them to arrange a doctor. She picked up the glass pieces which were scattered on the floor. She tried to clean the bloodstained with the available piece of cloth. The doctor arrived and started treating Aakriti.
"Nothing to worry about. Her blood pressure is slightly low. It might have happened because of excess stress." The doctor said while giving her an injection.
" Please treat the wound." Maya said raising the blanket and showing Aakriti's foot. The doctor started cleaning and bandaging her wound.
"The wound is deep. It might take some time to heal. Ask her to avoid moments for some days." The doctor said.
Aakriti started gaining consciousness. She looked at both of them with a puzzled look. The doctor took a leave after asking Aakriti to take care.
"Maya, when did you come?"
" Maam, I wasn't able to contact you so I was worried as you don't take leave no matter what happens. I rushed to check on you. When I came you had fainted in the bathroom so I dragged you to the bed and called the doctor."
Aakriti realized that her emotions had calmed down. She swiftly removed the blanket and looked at her damped clothes. She sighed and tried to get up. Maya stopped her.
"Maam the doctor strictly told you to rest as much as possible and to avoid putting pressure on your foot for some days."
Aakriti gave her a small smile and nodded her head. She assured her and asked her to bring all the important files here. The moment Maya left the room Aakriti got up and went towards the balcony.
She called her psychologist and informed him about her nightmares starting all over again. The psychologist wanted to know the details about all the significant events that took place before the nightmare started. She refused to let anything out. The psychologist tried to convince her to start therapy but she outright refused him and cut the call.
Aakriti frowned and then called someone. She looked pretty serious at this moment.
"Hey darling, how are you? You finally remembered your servant." The person on the call said in a joking manner.
"Jack. How many times have I told you not to call me darling? Forget it. I need you to collect information about a person and an old incident. It is pretty urgent." Aakriti said with a frown.
"Sure tell me." He said in a fun way.
"I need you to find everything related to Dhruv Singh Rathore and about an accident in which his parents died. I will be in Delhi in four days. I will meet you and you can tell me about it."
"By Dhruv Singh Rathore, you mean the current king of Udaipur. You are joking right."
"Do I look like a person who loves to joke?"
"You want me to find his information in four days. How is it possible?"
"Why isn't it possible?"
"He isn't an ordinary person but a royal family member. On top of that the king of Udaipur."
"I know he isn't an ordinary person. If he was would I need your help to trace his information."
"Have mercy on me. Darling."
"Don't call me that you idiot. If you love your life and don't wish to go to jail just do what you are asked to do. The first thing that I will do after landing in Delhi is to meet you so be ready with the information." She cut the call and stared at the scenery.
"Some people need to experience the nightmare that they have projected on others. Sometimes revenge needs to be taken not just to satisfy our anger but to also make people not dare to ever think about harming us." Aakriti said looking at the sky.
